Forgivable Education Loans for Service (FELS)

Qualified students committed to working in North Carolina in fields that have a critical need for more employees, such as nursing, teaching, allied health fields, or medicine may apply for a FELS loan.  The program was established by the North Carolina General Assembly and is administered by the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority.

The loan program provides financial assistance to help students with their higher education expenses.  Prior to receiving funding, recipients must sign a promissory note agreeing to pay back the loan after graduation either by working a year in an approved position in NC for each academic year of funding received or by repaying the loan in cash.

Full details of the FELS program, the application, eligibility requirements, award amounts, loan repayment details and listings of qualifying academic programs and institutions can be found at CFNC.org/FELS.

The application deadline is April 1.2013.

UNCG in 3 Program

hThe UNCG in 3 Program has been created to give students the opportunity to graduate in 3 years:
·      Receive priority registration where they register first on day one - a huge perk
·      Save about $8000 or more
·      Have a UNCG in 3 advisor in addition to their major advisor to keep them on track to graduate in 3 years
·      Have a minimum of 12 college transfer credit hours prior to starting at UNCG (AP, Community College, Middle or Early College)
·      Students need to choose one of the 20 participating majors
For students with less than 12 hours, there are other options such as taking credits in the summer prior to the fall semester.
Students can go to the website (uncgin3@uncg.edu) to fill out the form to get on our list. They are still eligible for financial aid, honors programs and any other offerings UNCG has for them.
